Hello All! Some of you were probably wondering what happened to Your Chicago Mortgage Guy, others, probably couldn't care less! In any event, we were off on vacation in July and I'm back and getting caught up.
Julie and I are hikers and LOVE Door County Wisconsin for that very reason. They have some of the nicest and best kept parks anywhere in the country for hikers and bikers alike. We especially like Penninsula State Park between Fish Creek and Sister Bay.
As you can see, we put Fiona in the back pack and get as much in as she will tolerate. Actually, she is really good about it. She especially likes it when we go "bouncy, bouncy", which is essentially me in a slow trot trying not to lose my lunch while I keep her entertained. Penninsula has hiking and biking for lots of different skill sets. They have flat hikes and hilly hikes as well as traversing some pretty awesome cliffs. The picture above is on a bluff overlooking Green Bay on Lake Michigan. There are at least 20 miles of hiking trails and even more for bikers. That's not it for Door County though. There are several other State Parks including Whitefish Dunes State Park and Newport State Park just to name a few. Julie and I have been here during all four seasons and the landscape is beautiful year round.
If you want out of the parks, there are tons of beaches, shopping and great food. They also have a great wine industry and tons of farmers markets. I imagine that we will still be vacationing here 20 years from now.
