Cook County Tax Bills are out, and due on March 3rd, 2009.
For those of you who escrow. It's always a good idea to check towards the end of February or the first week of March to make sure your lender paid your taxes. You can check at www.cookcountytreasurer.com Go to the payment button and put in the property pin # found on your tax bill. It will tell you on that page whether the bill has been paid or not.
This is also a great time to check the Treasurers website to make sure you are claiming the proper exemptions for your property. There is a Home Owners Exemption that every person living in their owner occupied Cook County residence should be claiming. There is also a Senior Exemtption and a Senior Tax Freeze that can be applied for here. Get them in! They will save you money.
If you have any questions about your tax bill, give me a call or drop me an email. I'd be happy to help.
